The commission of the offense.
A microscopic view into the childhood of repetitive offenders in New Zealand.

The Cultural Report
Is about your childhood teachings. What cultures have been embedded into your life and how have these teachings played a part in your adult life.
The very first step is to speak with us to find out if a cultural report will assist you on your sentencing day. Your lawyer may have already suggested that a cultural report can be submitted due to the nature of your charges. Remember a s27 can only be used on a guilty plea. We will then organise your first hui- meeting with a case writer.
What were you exposed to as a child?
An explanation of the teachings that took place.
Who raised you? Your parents or relatives or were you a foster child, living in many different homes? A record of your caregivers and or parents' behaviors are captured for the developmental influence each adult had on you at a vulnerable age.

Where Child Harm is Involved.
Why is child abuse important for a s27 cultural report and did you suffer from child abuse growing up?
Child abuse is a common factor between a repeat offender and the inability to completely change. Brain malfunctioning that occurs in childhood trauma is similar to that of a car accident for a brain injury.
